Takesada MATSUTANI

Born 1937 in Osaka. Studied Japanese painting at Osaka City Kogei High School. Exhibited work at the 9th Gutai Exhibition. Became a Gutai member in 1963 and stayed until its dissolution in 1972. Received first prize, resulting in a grant from the the French government to go to France, at the 1st Mainichi Art Competition in 1966, and has been resident in France since then.

Studied copper printing at Stanley William Hayter’s “Atelier17”, and later became his assistant. Established a silk screen printing studio at Montparnasse and continues to create works at Paris and Nishinomiya.
