In the same Bunkyo-ku as Toki-no-Wasuremono, the Koishikawa Botanical Garden will be hosting its second "Koishikawa Botanical Festival." Toki-no-Wasuremono is pleased to be participating in the outside art division of this event. The Koishikawa Botanical Festival will be held at the Koishikawa Botanical Garden for three days from November 3rd to 5th, while Toki-no-Wasuremono's gallery will remain open until the 11th. The theme for the Koishikawa Botanical Festival 2023 is " Nomenclature - Why do people give plants names?" Toki-no-Wasuremono has always operated its gallery in this lush, green neighborhood of Aoyama since its inception. In the childhood of the owner of Toki-no-Wasuremono, days were spent in insect and plant collecting. When it comes to "plants," there is always a beautiful plant field guide with sketches by Tomitaro Makino at hand. Despite being a small island nation, Japan boasts an astonishingly rich diversity of plants (organisms) from north to south. Toki-no-Wasuremono has invited artists from across Japan, as well as those residing overseas, to create works inspired by or using Makino Tomitaro's botanical illustrations. In the open space on the first floor, there will be an installation by the Ikebana artist, Otsuka Rishi.
