Every year in October, the ART TAIPEI art fair held in Taipei serves as an essential platform for international art exchange in the Asia-Pacific region. This year marks the 30th anniversary of "ART TAIPEI 2023," and Toki-no-Wasuremono is delighted to be exhibiting again after a long time.
At Toki-no-Wasuremono booth, visitors will have the opportunity to see prints and drawings by architectural giants of the 20th century: Le Corbusier (1887-1965), who is known for his groundbreaking architectural work; Arata Isozaki (1931-2022), a leading figure in Japan's architectural scene; and Tadao Ando (b. 1941), a renowned architect representing Asia. The booth will also feature silkscreen prints based on valuable sketches left by Shiro Kuramata (1934-1991), a world-renowned designer who introduced innovative works in the field of design during the mid-1960s, as well as his cabinet titled "Cabinet de Curiosite" that represents his venture into colored acrylic.
Visitors will also have the chance to see wooden sculptures by highly acclaimed sculptor Takeshi Haguri (b. 1957) and "Ryukyu Painting of Bird and Flower Paradise," a first presentation in Taipei by Marina Nizoe (b. 1993) residing in Okinawa. Takeshi Haguri dynamically revives the traditional history of wooden carving by adding delicate coloring to his series of "Otoko-gi" (Chivalry) wooden figures, while Marina Nizoe actively incorporates the painting technique of Ryukyu painting to create a paradise in modern Ryukyu art, illustrating contemporary Ryukyu painting paradise portraying traditional auspicious themes, bridging tradition and innovation.
