We will present works from Eikoh HOSOE's major series from the 1960s-2000s, including "Kamaitachi", "Barakei (Ordeal by Roses", "Gaudi", "Embrace", and "Ukiyoe Projections".
●Opening
On 10/31(Tues)from 16:00、we will hold an opening.
Reservations are not necessary, so please feel free to participate.
■Eikoh HOSOE (1933-)
Photographer, the director of Kiyosato Museum of Photographic Art.
1933- Born in Yonezawa, Yamagata prefecture (real name Toshiro Hosoe).
1952- His photograph, "Padie-Chan" won the first prize in the student group of Fuji Photo Contest. The award encouraged him to pursue photography seriously and later enrolled at Tokyo College of photography.
1953- Joined the artist's group "Demokrato".
1954- Graduated from Tokyo College of Photography.
1956- First solo exhibition. "An American girl in Tokyo".
1963- Publishes the book "Barakei (Ordeal by Roses)" which features Yukio Mishima.
1969- Published the book "Kamaitachi" featuring Tatsumi Hijikata, Butoh dancer.
1971- Published newly designed version of Barakei (Ordeal by Roses).
1975- Offered a professorship at Tokyo College of Photography.
1998- Awarded the Purple Ribbon Medal.
