 Eikoh HOSOE(1933- )


1933- Eikoh Hosoe is born Toshiro Hosoe in Yonezawa, Yamagata prefecture.
1952- His photograph, Padie-Chan wins first prize in the student group of the Fuji Photo Contest. The honor incites him to pursue photography seriously and later enroll at Tokyo College of photography.
1953- Joins the artist's group " Demokrato."
1954- Graduates from the Tokyo College of Photography.
1956- First solo exhibition. " An American girl in Tokyo"
1963- Publishes the book "Barakei(Killed by Roses)" which collaborate with Yukio Mishima.
1969- Collaboration with Tatsumi Hijikata, Butoh dancer, is published as the book "Kamaitachi".
1971- Publishes newly designed version of Barakei (Ordeal by Roses).
1975- Is offered a professorship at Tokyo College of Photography.
1998- Is presented with the Medal with Purple Ribbon.
